In a statement of Sunday, Muhammed Adamu, Inspector General of the Nigeria’s Police Force, said that the unit had been dissolved “with immediate effect.”

This is what the youthyare fighting for. He also added that all SARS officers would be redeployed to other police commands, formations and units, in accordance to the condemnation by some activist online who pledged to keep the protest going until Justice for the victims has be served.

Mr. Adamu added that the Nigerian police force would work with the human rights group and civil society organisations to investigate reported cases of human rights violation.

The Presidency also gave a nod for this approval in a tweet to back up the dissolution of the police unit (SARS) which was founded in 1992 as a means to combat robbery and crimes in the country.

Insidegist9ja gathered that the demonstrations calling out for the dissolution of SARS erupted after a video circulated a week ago alleging to show a member of the Squad shooting dead a man in Delta State.
