A total of 18 passengers of Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA) have been reported to have been abducted by bandits in Niger State.
The attack occurred at Yakila village in Rafi local government area of the state, the bandits were seen leaving a woman and her baby behind and went away with the rest 18 passengers.
Insidegist gathered that the passengers were said to be heading to Minna, the state capital from Kotangora region when the incident occurred.MALLAM Ibrahim Inga, Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency confirmed the incident to our correspondent during a telephone interview.
Mallam Ibrahim Inga who was on the way from Kagara for the revalidation of his APC membership in company of the Chief of staff said they met the incident just immediately after the bandits escaped. He explained that they saw a woman who was left behind with her child by the abductors who confirmed that 18 passengers were taken away.
“The only thing I can say now is we have rescued the woman and her baby and she is in the vehicle with us and we are on our way to Minna. She told us that the bandits blocked the way and went away with 18 oyhers.No government official was among those abducted.I can’t give more details now because the woman is traumatized and we cannot ask her so many questions for now,” Inga said.
Mallam Inga has promised to give more feedback to our correspondent when he gets back to Minna.
